Alloy
The Aluminium alloy is H14, 8011 with 0.23 ±0.1mm gauge.
Liner – Chandler screw caps use only Meyer manufactured SFT (saran-film-tin) liner seals.
INTERNAL Varnish
VCaps use this FDA approved Polyester internal lacquer designated for use on metal surfaces that come into contact with food products.
VCAP Artwork Format
Artwork should be supplied as EPS (vector artwork with fonts outlined) and PDF formats.
CAP Colour Matching
Any spot colour can be closely matched. If the closure is to match a specific item, e.g. a wine label or existing cap, please supply a complete sample or a colour swatch. We recommend a colour swatch of at least 3cm sq. Side wall coating and decorations are available as spot colours only.*
VCAP Top Decoration
The maximum diameter that can receive decoration or emboss details on the top area of the cap is Ø23mm. It is possible to have up to four colours offset printed on the cap’s base colour (CMYK). The initial base coat colour is frequently white, gold or silver.
VCAP Side Decoration & Finishes
Options include; silkscreen and offset printing, top and side embossed, hot foil and shaved embossed. The caps can be produced with various base types – Matt (top and side), Opaque gloss, Semi-gloss, Satin matt, Metallic powder, Metallic gloss, Gloss tint varnish (pearlescent).*
Camera Inspection
A series of high speed, on-line cameras inspect and accept/reject each cap for internal liner presence, liner orientation, liner surface quality and for foreign particles.
VCAP Production Lead Times
New orders that are top decorated or non-stock colours require 4-6 weeks production lead time from receipt of final artwork. Preparation for new artwork is approximately 2 weeks. Repeat orders (no design change) can be produced within 3-5 weeks depending upon production capacity and seasonal demand.
* NOTE // Finishes may alter the tone of the original PMS or swatch colour. Inks applied on aluminium substrate will behave and appear different to ink colours printed on paper or plastic. Because screwcaps are three dimensional, colours tend to become visually metameric. With new designs, where possible, we recommend matching bottle labels to cap colours.
With recreation of cap designs, we can match the cap’s artwork and colours very precisely.
